In Their Own Words

Delaware seniors talk about driving today

I’m 88, and I’ve been driving since 1937....

You just have to be more cautious. Well, there’s more traffic—let’s face it—than there used to be....

We have a lot more aggressive drivers out here now....

What concerns me a lot is people who don’t use their turn signals....

I don’t think you should talk on the telephone while you’re driving because it distracts you....

I have curtailed some. I don’t drive as much as I used to....

What I can’t stand at all, and I try to avoid it as much as possible, is nighttime driving in the rain....

I’m just afraid of the other guy; I’m not afraid of my driving at all....

I still like my freedom. I like to be able to leave home with a destination in mind and also with some alternatives....

As long as I can drive, I’m gonna do it.
